Creative professionals with the right technical skills are needed to create the next generation of computer game art and animation.
The game art and animation degree is a new course building upon our industry-recognised strength in game art and is accredited by Skillset as part of the BA (Hons) Computer Animation.
At our ATRiuM campus, you will use the latest industry-standard equipment and software to create your ideas in a virtual reality. Not only will you gain the technical skills for a successful career, but you will develop your creativity and the professional skills needed for the workplace. There will be an opportunity during your second year to apply for a place on our exchange programme to study at a partner institution in China.

What You Will Study
The course begins with an introduction to 3D computer animation and 3D digital art principles, then you progress to advanced work in computer-based animation and 3D digital art. During the second and third years, you can specialise in the following areas:
- Character animation
- Creature animation
- 3D computer games artist
- 3D environmental artist
- 3D visual effects artist
- 3D pre-vis artist
- 3D rigging technician and 3D digital lighting artist
How You Will Study
Your practical work will be strengthened by taught modules in the culture and history of game-playing, which will give you a contextual background. There are also elements of business studies to ensure you have a thorough understanding of the industry and the computer games marketplace.
