Essential Info
By exploring the relationship between fashion products and how they are marketed, you will understand the role of media advertising and marketing in fashion design, as well as how innovative design is vital for success in a global marketplace. You will also have the opportunity to work with students on the BA Fashion Design degree and participate in live projects with established fashion brands.
This fashion promotion course is based in central Cardiff in Cromwell House. Your studies will introduce fashion-led promotional methods, explore the importance of brand identity and the role of fashion in modern society. You will come to understand consumer market research and develop the creative skills to promote and enhance both new and established fashion brands. There is also the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience and insider knowledge through a 12-month work placement at the end of your second year.

What You Will Study
Starting with the methods and principles of fashion promotion design, you will develop key skills in research, drawing and illustration (both hand and computer generated), colour theory, brand development, fashion graphics, fashion marketing and media. In the second year, you will progress to larger fashion industry-led design and marketing projects, exploring branding, digital photography, web-design and fashion buying. You will also play a key role in conceiving, organising and staging a fashion show, exposing you to the practicalities of events co-ordination, styling and promotion. Wider economic and social issues that influence product and brand development will be considered, while studying consumer behaviour and market trends.
Throughout the course, you will have opportunities to showcase your talents by entering national competitions. In the final year, you will focus on your own area of interest and expertise through the development of your major project – a highly creative project in your specialist area of fashion promotion, completed to industry standard.
