If you want to become a registered social worker, you need to gain a BSc (Hons) Social Work degree

Essential Info

The University of Glamorgan’s Social Work degree was recently judged the top social work course in Wales and seventh in the UK in the Guardian League Tables 2008. What’s more, in the National Student Survey, 2010, completed by final year students, the University of Glamorgan came top in Wales for Social Work.

Evaluations of our social work degree by external examiners, local authority partners and other stakeholders have all been positive. We are committed to involving service users and carers in the teaching and management of this social work course. This means you will get an insight into their needs and experiences, and students have found their input very valuable.

You can either apply as an employee of a partner social service agency (Rhondda Cynon Taf) or a direct-entry student. If you are a direct-entry student, you will be eligible to apply for a bursary from the Care Council for Wales (subject to their conditions). The selection process includes a group interview observed by a practitioner, a service user and a tutor, a written response to a relevant scenario and an individual interview. Deferred applications are not accepted.
