How You Will Study
Our teaching is informed by actual practice and our modules reflect real-life trends. You will receive approximately 12 hours of formal teaching a week, ranging from the traditional large-group lecture to more clinical legal education and online simulations. Lectures serve as a basic introduction to subjects and are intended to provide the framework to enable you to carry out further in-depth study. You will also have tutorials, which take place in smaller groups to provide a forum for more detailed discussion and debate on assignments that you will have prepared in advance. In addition to these contact hours you will be expected to undertake a substantial amount of private study.
Assessments include self, peer and tutor assessment, written coursework, portfolio, written exercises, in-class work, and examinations.
We have an active Student Law Society, with activities that include mooting and debating in our state-of-the-art Moot Court and in national competitions.
A number of part-time study options are also available, providing an attractive alternative for anyone interested in the legal field. If your circumstances change, you will have the opportunity to transfer to the full-time Law degree programme at various stages. Study for the part-time degree is over a maximum six-year period.

Possible Career Options
Our law graduates can be found in a variety of successful legal roles locally, nationally and internationally. While many graduates use this degree as a first step towards becoming a solicitor or barrister, others establish careers in financial services, management, education and public services, or progress to postgraduate study. If you wish to become a solicitor, you can complete the Legal Practice Course at the University. As a Glamorgan LLB graduate you will be given preferential consideration for a place on our Legal Practice Course for entry to the solicitors’ profession.
Work/Study Placements:
You may have the opportunity to undertake work-based learning via a one-week work placement. We have extensive links with some 40 firms and legal departments of local authorities. Students participating in the placement scheme acquire valuable professional skills and business contacts which can often lead to full-time employment.
As part of your degree, you may be able to study abroad for up to a year – either in Europe, at our partner universities in the USA or Canada, or further afield. Studying abroad is a great boost to your CV – you’ll get an international perspective on your subject, become more independent and confident, make new friends, and you might even pick up a few new language skills. What’s more, it’s not a ‘gap year’, so the time you spend overseas can count towards your degree.
Whether it’s studying abroad or gaining work experience, our experienced team will help you find a placement in an area that interests you.
