What You Will Study
During the first year of your sound technology degree, you will learn recording and sound engineering techniques and practise live sound, the use of computers in music production and the basic building blocks of electronics.
In year two, you will build on your audio engineering, recording and production skills, and start to experience live sound in a working venue. You will also learn about the sound industry and be equipped to deal with contracts, copyright law and running a small business.
The final year of the sound technology degree involves a major group project, working with students from other creative courses. You will refine your production skills in recording engineering and learn about the acoustics of performance spaces. You will also experience the recording and development of sound design for film and television. Final year students can choose to specialise in one of four areas: music production, computer-based music production and advanced sound synthesis, computer-based media production or electronics design for music.
