We were the first university in the UK to hold a community radio licence for our station, GTFM. We broadcast to Pontypridd, Cardiff and on the internet, offering excellent opportunities for student work experience. What You Will Study
Our media degree is a mixture of theory and practice. In the first and second years, you will gain and develop practical skills through fiction or documentary assignments in radio, video, photography and interactive new media production. To support and inform your new skills, there are study-based modules in film studies, broadcast and print journalism, media contexts and scriptwriting for film, TV and radio.
In the third year, you will specialise in the area that interests you most, choosing from photography, video, radio, interactive new media, scriptwriting for film, TV, radio and journalism (print or broadcast). These will be supported by optional modules in film studies and media contexts.
How You Will Study
The media production degree is taught through a range of lectures, seminars and practical workshops that reflect the mixture of hands-on work and the thinking that informs the course. Your practical work will be assessed through coursework and assignments, including a mix of group work and individual projects.
