This award-winning interior design degree has been designed to prepare you for success in a growing and competitive design industry
Essential Info
Do you have a creative flair and a good eye for design? Modern companies need designers who can respond quickly to changes in world markets and technology, as well as being competent in IT skills and design management.
Throughout your interior design degree, you will balance your creativity with practicality. You will gain a strong theoretical base for your creative concepts, while learning how to use technology to solve design problems. To ensure you have all the skills for a successful professional career, you will come to understand the ergonomic and spatial qualities of design in the context of design history and contemporary practice.
It’s not all classroom-based either. You can use your skills and get valuable experience through a year-long work placement with an interior design or architectural company. On our field trips, you will see some of the world’s best contemporary interior design. We have taken students to Tokyo, St Petersburg, Amsterdam, Milan, Barcelona, Berlin and Venice. To get inside information and the latest practical advice, you will also work with interior designers and professionals from related fields.

What You Will Study
In the first year, you start with the principles of interior design and applications that help you transfer your ideas to print. In the second year, you will progress to larger design projects, explore design methods and the application of branding in spatial design. In the final year, you will work on a self-chosen final creative project, plus a minor design project or enter a design competition. You will also gain skills that will make you more attractive to employers, such as project management.
Live projects are a feature of years two and three. Due to our excellent links with industry, the work produced by our students is regularly selected and used by partner companies. You can also work on industry-related projects that may lead to work placements. These projects give you the chance to work with professional designers, learning how to handle a project with real clients and budgets, and how to operate as a freelance designer.
